Okay, I'll put it out there - - I have a weak spot for rowing shots. Maybe it's because, I'm almost embarrassed to say, I had never been to the Schuylkill until I started shooting in 2005. It's still a thrill for me every time. As for this photo, it came to me as gorgeous late-afternoon light arrived. I was shooting cyclists on King Drive (see "Fall is King" on my photostream) just across the way from this spot on the river, and when I turned my attention to the Schuylkill I had to be quick, because tree cover hides the rowers until they're right upon you. I give myself a little credit, because I hurriedly closed the aperture to F8.0 to bring foreground & background into focus, but good light trumps all. JKEL
